Although the intended recipient is unlikely to receive this, perhaps reading over their shoulder, as it were, might help someone.
Dear Someone who lacks faith,
Your letter is hard to resist.
You see, I want you to find faith. Not in just anything. Not in a mere morsel when there’s a formidable feast to find.
I want you to find faith that’s incomparable because it embraces all truth, hugs tightly all that is good, brightens your understanding, heals your heart, is intimate and infinite.
I want you to find faith that the challenges of this world are temporary yet pivotal, inviting your best, forgiving the rest.
I want you to find faith that can seem like a fairy tale but can become very real.
You see, faith begins with trust, is motivated by evidence, and is deepened by experience. You’ll need some motivation to plant some faith in, and then to help it grow. You’ll need to choose, and then act.
You see, belief and faith are choices. While belief alone could collect dust, faith is belief in action. Faith sprouts a desire to believe, branching into actions nourished by its own fruit.
I encourage you to take some faith from its gift box and try a belief. It should bring epiphanies. It should change you. If it doesn’t, keep searching. There is a diamond.
The enormity of the catalog may seem daunting. It helps to know what to look for.
If a belief is a one-off, one-trick, or one-and-done, keep searching. A belief should not comprise a single bullet point but should lead to turning points.
If a belief coaxes complacency, keep searching. A belief should instill improvement.
If a belief claims superiority, keep searching. A belief should increase humility.
If a belief is solitary, keep searching. A belief should have open arms for consoling and supporting, fortifying and sharing.
If a belief lacks responsibilities, keep searching. A belief that asks nothing of you can’t change you.
I hope you will search for the most expansive, ennobling belief, choose to believe, and be faithful.
I want you to find what you’re ready for, which I hope is what I’ve found.
You have the potential to become what you have faith in.
Do let me know of your progress.
A believer
